All volunteers needing to be prepared to respond to the next disaster event to help survivors must have training. This Basic Disaster Response Team (DRT) training covers the basic training that a volunteer must has to be able to response to a disaster. This basic training, will cover basic roof tarping, basic cleaning out flooded homes, basic assessment training, Basic techniques of spiritual and emotional care, DRT protocols, and much more.
The purpose of this basic training is to prepare our Volunteers to do good and do no further harm to the survivors of a disaster event. After taking this training individuals will receive the proper credentials that are sometimes required for individuals and teams responding after a disaster event. Participants who successfully complete this training will receive those credentials, which including an DRT ID badge and volunteer T-Shirt.
All training sessions are open to all people ages 18 years of age and older. Participants must complete and pass a background check through Sterling Volunteers (link is below) and have completed the Sexual Abuse Awareness Training that is being giving by Ministry Safe that has been approved by the Global Methodist Church (Check with your local church and take this training) bring Certificate to the class to prove that this training was completed.
Please bring a valid State ID (Driver’s license) to the class for verification that each of individuals taken the class has completed their Background Check process.
The cost of the class is $40.00 per person, and it covers meals, T-shirt, ID badge, Training Book and other items that will be given out during the Class. The Class will run from 8:30 am to 3:30pm.
